ABOUT BLACKBURN

The savings aren't the goal. The life they're meant to support is.

Retirement represents years of work, saving and sacrifice. Blackburn Retirement Strategies was created to help people understand the decisions that come next—so they can approach retirement with greater clarity and confidence.

The questions change when retirement gets closer.

I've watched family members and friends spend decades working, saving and building something for retirement—only to find that retirement brings an entirely different set of questions.

Where will my income come from? What happens if the market falls at the wrong time? Will my savings last as long as I do? What happens if my health changes? Will I be able to leave something behind for the people I care about?

I've seen those questions become very real. I've watched market downturns create tremendous uncertainty for retirees whose savings were exposed to the markets. I've seen people reach their later retirement years worried about running out of money, and my own family experienced how quickly the financial picture can change when a family member developed dementia and needed full-time care.

I've also seen the difference it can make when people know they have dependable income they can count on throughout retirement.

Those experiences are a large part of why I created Blackburn—to help people better understand the decisions in front of them and prepare not only for the retirement they expect, but for the things that may change along the way.

Your retirement conversation should start with your life—not a product.

The first question I want to ask is simple:

"What do you want your retirement to look like?"

I want to understand what you're looking forward to, what concerns you, who matters to you, what you've worked to build and what you want those savings to make possible.

Then we can begin making sense of the questions that matter to you—without burying the conversation in unnecessary financial terminology.

You don't need to become a retirement expert. You should understand your choices well enough to make decisions you feel confident about.

Even if our first conversation never leads to another, my goal is for you to leave understanding something about your retirement more clearly than when we started.

Meet Jason

Jason is the founder of Blackburn Retirement Strategies. His approach to retirement begins with listening— understanding what someone wants retirement to look like before discussing what their savings may need to accomplish.

Blackburn's name has a personal connection as well.

It comes from a road in the small town outside Pittsburgh where Jason grew up. His grandfather spent his working life in the steel mills, and his grandmother was a nurse. His family lived modestly in a community surrounded by considerable wealth, giving him an early view of both the value of hard work and the importance successful families placed on education, preparation and financial certainty.

Blackburn is a small reminder of where he came from and the values he wanted to bring into the company he was building.

Your retirement deserves to make sense to you.

Whether you're beginning to think about retirement income or already have questions about the decisions ahead, Blackburn is a place to learn, ask questions and better understand your options.
